sunshine.
At the teddy bears8217 picnic on Cuffley Youth
Centre8217s field, youngsters tucked into
sandwiches they had helped to make and
enjoyed singing and listening to stories.
Cuffley Pre-school, based in Station Road, is
holding an open day on Monday June 30
from 1pm to 3pm when children can join in
activities and parents can chat informally to

Hertford8217s Richard Hale
School.
Wheelchair-bound
Michael McGrath, who
suffers from MS, spoke at
the Corn Exchange in
Hertford about becoming
the first disabled person
to get to the North and
South Poles.
Year 9 pupils then got to
ask the Buntingford
resident questions about
his exploits as part of their
enrichment week before
they start GCSE work.
Malcolm Ritchie, head of
Year 9, said: 8220The boys
were absolutely buzzing
afterwards.
8220I wanted it to be an
inspirational talk about
how anything is possible.8221THE importance of looking after
your eyes was highlighted by a
Ware optometrist this week at a
charity day in aid of the Guide
Dogs For The Blind Association.
Guide dog puppy Ursula and her
walker Petula Parker visited Aves
Optometrists, in High Street, for
the morning.
Patients and visitors could donate
to the charity as well as learn
about looking after their eyes.
Partner Wendy d8217E Vallancey said:
8220We wanted to raise awareness of
Shades Day on June 20, when
people can donate 1631 to the
charity to wear sunglasses for the
day.
8220We will be advertising and
collecting money next week and
will all wear shades on Friday.
Patients and anyone who comes in
for minor repairs or adjustments
