High Barn in Great
Bardfield tomorrow
night.The singer-songwriter from
Saffron Walden, who has
supported Jamie Cullum and
has been given airtime on BBC
Radio 2, will be performing two
sets showcasing her distinctive
musical styles.
During the first she will be
accompanied by her band,
which includes her drummer
husband Charlie Price,
guitarist Dan Boutwood and
bassist Ian Newman.
For the second she will be
joined on stage by guitarist Ian
Wilson and bassist Steve
Gaffney, with whom Joanna is
recording another album.
She said: 8220I8217m hoping the
audience will enjoy both sides
ofmy musical split personality.
8220We8217ll drop in a few well-known
covers, too, but I8217m really
excited about performing some
brand new material.8221
Joanna penned her first song,
Happy December,
at the age of
five and credits her father, a
professional musician, drama
teacher and writer, for her love
ofmusic.
She recorded her first album,
A
Little Bird Told Me, a smooth
jazz record with an eclectic mix
ofother composers8217 songs
along with her own, in 1999.
My Open Eye
followed in 2004. It
features Joanna8217s own material
inspired and dedicated to her
family and friends.
Her latest offering,
Moving
Shadows,
was launched last
month and is a collection of
classic 1960s pop performed
with a jazz slant.
Despite having three albums
under her belt, Joanna says she
is still bursting with new ideas.
