marched to All Saints8217 Church
in Hertford to mark the funeral
of a popular Royal British
Legion member.
Philip Cornish, 61, was
standard bearer for the
Hertford branch of the legion
and was also Hertfordshire
county standard bearer.
Philip, who lived in Railway
Place, was a very experienced
bearer and also taught many
others to carry standards.
A horse-drawn carriage
carried Phillip8217s coffin to the
Churchfields ceremony
alongside the standards on
Thursday May 29.
Jeff Mason, the legion8217s
chairman in Hertfordshire,
spoke at the funeral about
Phillip8217s dedication and said
he will be greatly missed.
His widow. Susan Cornish,
said: 8220It was a sad day, but a
happy one too. It was a
thanksgiving.
8220It was beautiful; the sun
