bour loading computer
equipment and a TV
wrapped in a blanket
into a Corsa parked out-
side the Nelson Street
property, St Albans
Crown Court heard.
Cronin got in through
an open window while
the homeowner was out,
the judge was told.
Prosecutor David
Chrimes said the car
sped off, leaving a com-
puter monitor on the
ground.
Officers in an
unmarked police car
gave chase.
Moore drove on the
wrong side ofthe road
to try to escape, but
ended up in a cul-de-sac.
He was arrested in the
vehicle and Cronin was
caught close by.
Cronin and Moore,
both from Tottenham,
north London, admitted
burglary.
Moore also pleaded
guilty to dangerous
driving and having no
insurance on February
9.
Cronin had nine con-
victions for 12 previous
offences, while Moore
had 23 for 40 offences.
Amanda Bailey,
defending unemployed
Cronin, said he had
entered the house
through an already open
window.
He had returned to
using class A drugs two
weeks before the crime,
but had not used them
since being released
from custody and had
shown remorse and
regret, she said.
Defending Moore,
James Martin said he
had not gone into the
property and had driven
offin panic.
He said: 8220These were
two stupid mistakes.8221
Cronin was sentenced
to 150 hours8217 unpaid
work, ordered to attend
a substance-related
offending programme
and placed on supervi-
sion for 12 months.

QC ordered Moore to
undertake 200 hours
unpaid work, attend a
8216Think First8217 pro-
gramme, which deals
with persistent offend-
ers, and put him on pro-
bation for two years.
He was banned from
driving for 18 months
and must take an
extended test.
Both men were
ordered to pay 163150 com-

were among items on display at a model
railway show in Hertford.
There were also railway videos, Meccano
creations and a train that could be
operated at the show, in the hall by All
Saints8217 Church, on Saturday.
Organiser Reg Harman said: 8220It went
extremely well. We had a very good
turnover of people throughout the day.
8220There were lots of small children taking
turns to operate the model train. Those
who don8217t have one at home were
particularly fascinated.8221
Some six model railways were featured in
the exhibition, depicting various eras.
Two stands were selling second-hand
model railways and books.
