awards, thanks to 1631,000
sponsorship from the
town8217s Riverside Garden
Centre.
There will be 16350 for
the best hanging basket
in the Mercury-backed
contest, which is organ-
ised by the town council
and aims to make
Hertford look attractive.

to be much bigger.

be recognised as a town
with fantastic gardens.

make an effort and make
Hertford somewhere to

The other categories,
in which seeds, tools,
plants and Riverside
vouchers will be award-
ed, are best school garden
and best school floral
container, best kept allot-
ment, pub with the best
floral decoration, win-
ning windows and com-
mercial premises for
shops and other busi-
nesses.
Mr Jeffery walked
around the town8217s allot-
ments on Monday and
was impressed with the
work.
Residents can nomi-
nate themselves for the
competition categories
or be nominated by
neighbours or passers-by.
The deadline for
entries has been extend-
ed until July 1.

the summer weather-
wise has meant nomina-
tions have been slower
than usual in coming in,
but hopefully people will
have been making the
most ofthe recent good
weather to spend some
time in their gardens and
allotments.

dens, hanging baskets or
allotments, and also
acknowledge efforts by
the town8217s many pubs
and businesses to bright-
en up Hertford by nomi-
nating them.
