fact it got the worst reviews,and I
think it was pretty much
universally panned,but then by
word of mouth it became this
massive hit.It was an incredible

The rest,as they say,is history,
and following hit singles in the
charts,a second place in the
Eurovision Song Contest and
more West End shows,Michael is
well and truly at the top of his
game.
And as if to prove it in August
last year he made his BBC Proms
debut with An Evening With
Michael Ball at the Royal Albert
Hall,which marked the first time a
musical theatre star had been
given a solo concert at the
classical music festival.
So what better person to
perform at this year8217s Last Night
of the Audley End Proms,near
Saffron Walden,and what better
singer to join him than Lesley
Garrett?
More British than a slice of black
pudding on a bowler hat,it
promises to be the ultimate Last
Night of the Proms concert,
complete with symphony
orchestra and even a Spitfire
display.
